What are dental implants?

What to expect

Dental implants are placed in a gentle, minimally invasive surgery. The area is completely numbed, to ensure that you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. You may be fitted with a temporary restoration or a healing collar to cover the implant. After placement, you may experience bruising, swelling, bleeding, or soreness. This is mild, most patients compare it to the feeling after an extraction or filling, and can usually be controlled with over the counter pain relievers. When osseointegration is completed (usually a few months) the final restoration is added, and you have a new smile for life!
