As expectant parents await the arrival of their first child, they may be flooded with emotions ranging from nervous to excited. They may look for the best of everything from nursery furniture to newborn clothing. They often want to find a gentle and caring dentist who understands their desire to provide the best for their child. Everyone from expectant parents to grandparents can find this type of care at Brentwood Family Dental. Highly sought after pediatric dentist, Dr. Jamil Alkhoury, sees children of all ages at our Brentwood practice.
Dr. Alkhoury has been practicing dentistry for more than a decade and understands the unique needs of each patient, regardless of age. He works with parents to help protect their baby's teeth from dental caries. He educates them about tooth decay and how to prevent it. White spots on baby teeth are signs of dental caries. To prevent dental caries, Dr. Alkhoury recommends wiping the baby's mouth with a soft, moist washcloth after feeding. It is important to avoid putting the baby to bed with a bottle of milk. Sugary foods and beverages such as soda and candy should not be given to the baby. Dr. Alkhoury does not recommend a child has juice until he or she is 6 months old.
Dr. Alkhoury enjoys watching children reach milestones such as the first tooth. A child should visit Dr. Alkhoury after the first tooth has erupted or by the first birthday. For the first dental appointment, Dr. Alkhoury and our team will make the visit as enjoyable as possible. Parents can encourage the dental visit by highlighting how we "count" teeth and possibly "take photographs" of the mouth. At this appointment, we are happy to answer any questions parents may have about maintaining the oral health of the child.
The Brentwood Family Dental team would love to take care of your family's dental needs. We would be happy to highlight our many services during a consultation so you can determine if we are the right dental team for your family. Schedule your consultation with our friendly team by calling today.
