Hormonal treatments for men and women

To provide you with the utmost care, we incorporate your individual goals, hormonal profile and comprehensive test results into the diagnostic evaluation. Our aim is to improve your life, improve your productivity and your physical and mental, as well as sexual performance, your appearance, and preserve your health.

It has been a common medical perception that our hormones and consequently our energy production declines because we age. Instead, recent research has shown that we age because our body’s hormone production declines. This is followed by the slowing of vital metabolic processes and chronic, degenerative changes.

Aging is inevitable, but the degenerative processes accompanying it are not. We now have the tools to detect potential physiological processes before they manifest themselves in functional or anatomical changes. Consequently, state of the art diagnostic tools and treatment protocols now allow each one of us to enjoy a more productive and vigorous life into our later years.

Prior to prescribing your path for the prevention or treatment for potential and/or existing problems, each patient will have established a baseline of his/her bio-chemical identity including hormone status. Based on these findings and your personal goals we will partner with you to define a long-term health strategy by adding health, mental, physical and possibly sexual energy to your years not merely years to your life.

Dr. Andronico offers consultations to discuss your healthy aging, as well as programs that target the prevention and treatment of various degenerative processes.

One of the keys to reset your biological clock and achieve youthful health and energy is to restore and balance your hormone levels. Hormonal supplementation promotes youthful function and the repair and resiliency of your cells, organs and your body as a whole. Recent scientific research has led to the development of safe and effective hormone replacement therapies (HRT) using only natural, bio-identical hormones (BHRT).

Dry eye disorders

Dry eye disorders occur when tear production is insufficient to adequately nourish and lubricate the eye. We need tears in order to provide clear vision and maintain health on the outermost surface of the eye. Dry eye may result from inadequate tear production or from poor quality through which lubrication does not occur the way it should. This condition is quite common, especially with older adults, who may suffer from chronic symptoms.

When we blink, we spread tears across the cornea, located at the front of the eye. Not only do tears lubricate ocular tissue, they also keep foreign matter from remaining in the eye, and they act as a protective barrier against infection. When excess tears are present, they drain through tiny ducts at the innermost corner of the eyelid into the back of the nose. If imbalance between the production of tears and their drainage occurs, dry eye disorder may develop.
  • Inadequate production. Several glands are involved in the production of tears. With age, production tends to naturally slow. Inadequate production may also stem from side effects of medication or from certain medical conditions. In some cases, dry eye is caused by environmental factors. Dry climate and high winds, for instance, can cause tears to evaporate quickly.
  • Poor quality. There are three vital elements to tears: water, oil, and mucus. Each of these substances is important to the nourishment and protection of the cornea and other surface tissues. Oil is essential to preventing the evaporation of water, and mucus promotes the spreading of tears across the eye's surface. Inefficient spreading or the fast evaporation of tears can lead to problems with dry eye.

Most cases of dry eye are caused by an imbalance in either the quantity or the quality of your tears. Symptoms of dry eye include a foreign body feeling, burning, blurred vision, excessive tearing, a scratchy, gritty sensation, and generalized irritation. If dry eyes are not properly treated, the front surface of the eye may be damaged and vision may be impaired.
