Glyco-Bright

Our Glyco-Bright chemical peel is a wonderful, gentle way to improve the quality of skin while decreasing pigmentation problems. It is safe and effective for most skin types and ethnicities. The main ingredient in this formula is glycolic acid, which is one of the gentlest and most commonly used chemical peeling agents available. What differentiates the Glyco-Bright Peel from other glycolic acid skin peels is the addition of two percent hydroquinone, a skin-lightening agent.

How it is used

The Glyco-Bright formula is applied to the treatment area, and then allowed time to soak into the skin. The precise timing of treatment will be determined based on the severity of the problem and the desired result. The longer it remains on the skin, the deeper it will be absorbed. Generally, the procedure takes less than 30 minutes, and the product is absorbed into the uppermost layer only. It encourages cell turnover for an overall rejuvenating and exfoliating effect while brightening the skin. It may be recommended for patients with pigmentation problems or uneven skin tone.

How it works

This peel serves a dual function, as it has two active ingredients. Glycolic acid works by encouraging the body to release dead skin cells that have accumulated on the skin surface as well as shed and replace the outer layer of living skin with a fresh new layer. The hydroquinone works by lightening excessively pigmented skin areas, and curbing over-production of skin pigment in the future.

Recovery and results

There is little to no downtime associated with this procedure, though you will need to be especially careful of sun exposure. As with any chemical peel, the newly developed skin is tender, and especially susceptible to the ravages of UV radiation. Your skin will essentially look normal following the procedure, though there will be some flaking and the appearance of dryness. You can wear cosmetic products, provided they are mild and compatible with your skin type. Within a few days (possibly up to a week), the flaking should cease, and you should see more beautiful, even-toned skin.
