Upper Arm Liposuction Beverly Hills - Lipo of the Upper Arms
Posted By
Liposuction, often called lipo, is a great tool for removing fat from virtually any area of the body. Particularly stubborn fat deposits that are unresponsive to diet and exercise.
A common area of concern for women is the upper arms. Many women complain of large upper arms. Liposuction can be performed to contour the upper arms and remove the excess fat from the underside of the upper arm. Once the swelling resolves, you will notice that the circumference of the arm will be smaller.
Small diameter cannulas are used to remove the fat, so that you will only need one or two very small incisions to remove the fat. Although lipo of the arms is a relatively small procedure it must be performed by a skilled surgeon to ensure that you will get a good result. It is easy to get irregularities and skin laxity (sagging skin) in this area if over aggressive liposuction is performed. This is why arm liposuction is reserved for women with good quality skin in this area. Arms with loose skin and a significant number of stretch marks will be incompletely treated with liposuction alone. Excess arm skin is removed by way of an upper arm lift, or brachioplasty. Brachioplasty can sometimes be performed at the same time as liposuction, or can be performed later in a staged fashion once the swelling has resolved from liposuction.
The recovery from arm liposuction is rather quick. The arms will feel sore for about 3 or 4 days. You can resume most non strenuous activities right away. You will need a compression garment on your arms for about 4 weeks to help with the swelling and ensure that the skin heals smoothly. Keeping the arms elevated also helps with the swelling.
