The nose is the central structure of the face. It is usually ignored when it has an aesthetically pleasing shape and is well proportioned with the rest of the face. However, if the nose is abnormally shaped or large, this draws attention to the nose. Rhinoplasty is a surgery that reshapes the nose into a more aesthetically pleasing shape.
The surgery is typically performed under a general anesthetic. A small (well hidden) incision is created on your nose and the rest of the incisions are inside the nose. Every nose is different and requires a different treatment plan; hence preoperative analysis is key to performing this surgery. During your consultation, Dr. Dass will point out areas that can be improved and your goals will be discussed. Common requests include removal of a dorsal hump, reshaping the tip of the nose, improving nasal tip rotation, and decreasing the width of the nose.

Everyone is different, but you can expect the recovery time to be about 2 weeks. You will have bruising around your nose and eyes and you may need to wear a nasal splint for 2-4 weeks. Most of the swelling will resolve over the first 2-4 weeks, however, improvements will continue for several months to even a year. After surgery, we recommend that you begin walking the same day to reduce your risk of complications. Light cardio exercises may be resumed after about 2 weeks, and strenuous exercise and lifting may be resumed after about 4 weeks.
Rhinoplasty is real surgery and carries a small risk of complications. Risks of surgery include bleeding, infection, scars, contour irregularity, asymmetry, and changes in breathing or smell. Dr. Dass performs surgery in an accredited surgical facility to maintain the highest standards for safety. During your consultation, we will discuss your specific risks of surgery.
