When will I be able to see results of blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery may involve surgery of the upper eyelid or lower eyelid or both. The aim of the surgery is to provide a rejuvenated look to the area around the eyes and remove the saggy and bulging appearance of the lower eyelid. Following the surgery, the patient looks younger, less tired and more refreshed than before.Following blepharoplasty, the patient can notice the difference right away. Within two weeks, most patients begin to look good. The results are visible despite the fact that the patient is still recovering, even without the complete healing of the bruise.
However, the full and final results can be usually seen within a month after the surgery. That is the time when most patients have their bruise completely healed, with the skin regaining its complete natural texture and elasticity.
A good part about blepharoplasty is that it does not leave very obvious scars. It is the first priority of all experienced plastic surgeons to ensure that the patient does not suffer on account of scarring.
Blepharoplasty must be performed only by a highly experienced plastic surgeon who understands the sensitivity of the procedure. Eyes are the most delicate external organs of the human body. The surgery must be performed in absolutely risk-free conditions because any unnecessary complication can make the surgery not worthwhile.
It is also important that the patients must have realistic expectations from the surgery. If the patient is not undergoing other procedures such as a brow lift or a complete face lift, the results will be obviously limited only to the area surrounding the eyes. The operating surgeon should take care to inform the patient of the expected results prior to the surgery.
