A: Bruising is the most consistent adverse event that can occur from filler injections. Even if a blunt cannula is used, bruising is always possible because a needle must be used for the insertion point of the cannula. In addition, some fillers can result in delayed bruising the next day. We always apply immediate pressure after each stick, but bruising is a complication that is impossible to prevent 100% of the time. In our practice, we have found that the Excel V 532 laser, when done 1-2 days after bruising shortens the duration and improves the severity of bruises.
