New Orleans area patients ask, "Can Juvéderm be used for Lip Correction and Augmentation"?
By
Juvéderm is a dermal filler commonly used for lip correction and enhancement. Dr. Mary Lupo utilizes this filler comprised of hyaluronic acid to achieve a more youthful appearance by adding volume to the lips. Hyaluronic acid works by binding with water in the body through a gel solution that is administered directly into the area of concern. This is why Juvéderm is recommended for patients when it comes to the signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
Juvederm is actually injected into the lips as an “off-label” use, but it has become the standard of care because of the smooth consistency of the Juvederm line. The procedures for injections typically take less than 15 minutes in our comfortable treatment rooms. Dr. Mary Lupo administers the injections into the appropriate areas for the best results and provides information regarding after care. In many situations, patients may notice some slight redness and swelling immediately after treatment, but this subsides over the course of the day. Patients are advised not to schedule injections immediately before any special occasions in which swelling or mild bruising may be a concern.
After injections have been completed, patients can enjoy the results for up to six months, depending on how quickly the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid gel. Reinjections are necessary if patients want to maintain the results.
Dr. Mary Lupo is here to assist patients in her state-of-the-art dermatology office and is readily available for new and existing patients interested in general and aesthetic dermatology services.
