New Orleans area Dermatologist describes the benefits of VariLite laser treatment
ByThe VariLite laser uses a dual laser system to generate laser light directly onto the area of treatment. This light is absorbed by the bright red blood cells and the pigmentation of the skin (melanin). The heat generated from the laser light breaks down the targeted tissue while leaving the healthy cells intact.
One of the benefits of VariLite laser treatment is the short downtime. While some patients may experience redness of the skin and some possible swelling, this is often minor and will typically subside within a few hours of treatment. Some patients may also experience post inflammatory hyper pigmentation, itching, redness, and poor healing which should be concern for a follow-up treatment with Dr. Mary Lupo. Most patients resume their daily activities immediately following their appointment with minimal interruption.
To address the most common skin concerns, some patients may need to undergo several VariLite treatments scheduled several weeks apart. Most lesions and vessels will respond to treatment after one to three session.
Dr. Mary Lupo speaks with her patients to educate them on all the risks and benefits of treatment and any side effects they should expect immediately following their session. However, the treatment is relatively safe and many patients love the results they can achieve. Patients in and around the New Orleans area who are interested in undergoing treatment should speak with the professionals at the Lupo Center for Aesthetic and General Dermatology to schedule a consultation visit and examination.
