Implants
Dental implants have become the preferred solution to missing teeth for many dentists and patients alike. They provide the most natural restoration possible. One or more artificial tooth roots are implanted in the bone, and they serve as a foundation for one or several false teeth, mimicking the natural structure. The technique was developed in the 1950s, and it has been refined and improved upon for decades.
Probably the greatest advance in dental implant technology was the development of metal-free implants, which are non-allergenic and naturally white. Dazzling Smiles is proud to offer our patients this exceptionally beautiful, healthy solution. Dr. McKenzie has been at the forefront of advanced biocompatible and cosmetic dentistry throughout her career, and she brought all-ceramic implants to the state of Georgia.
We offer Z-Systems, the global leader in non-metal implants. Ceramic implants are preferable for several reasons:
- Many people object to the idea of any metal being placed in their bodies.
- Some people are allergic to titanium. Some studies have indicated that traditional metal implants may increase an individual’s odds of developing such an allergy.
- With more than a decade of research and development, Z-Systems has achieved an industry-leading success rate of 98 percent.
- All-white implants enable the best possible esthetic result. Titanium is gray in color, which can cause a dark margin at the base of the tooth, especially if gum recession occurs.
- Ceramic is not electrically conductive.
The process begins with an examination and consultation. Virtually anyone who is healthy enough for a minor surgery or tooth extraction is a good candidate for implants. However, patients with significant bone loss may need a graft to increase the quality and quantity of bone tissue. Dr. McKenzie will tell you if this is necessary, and help you choose the best solution for your situation.
If you choose ceramic dental implants, they are inserted into the bone during a gentle, very minor oral surgery. Post-procedure discomfort is minimal, but it takes a few weeks or months for the bone tissue to attach itself to the implant. When that process is complete, the final restoration is added.
If you are looking for a beautiful, biocompatible, long-lasting solution to missing teeth, call and schedule a consultation to find out if ceramic dental implants are right for you.
