Porcelain Veneers Procedures

Porcelain veneers procedures

Porcelain veneers procedures typically require patients come in for two separate dental visits. The first visit is reserved for preparing the teeth.

In order to prepare the teeth for porcelain veneers, a thin layer of enamel will need to be removed. This is done with local anesthetic and is comfortable and pain-free for the patient. Removing a tiny bit of the enamel is necessary to adhere the veneer to the front of the tooth so it will line up with the gum and will not protrude further than natural teeth.

Once this is complete, impressions are taken of the teeth. They are then sent to an off-site dental laboratory for custom fabrication.

After about 10-14 days, the veneers will be ready for permanent placement. During the placement appointment, veneers are double-checked for the correct size, shape, and color. Minor adjustments can be made on site prior to permanent bonding. After any changes are complete, the veneers are attached to the front of teeth with a special dental cement. Once the veneers are placed, patients will be able to bite, chew, and speak normally. Not to mention, they will leave the office with a brand new smile.
