Aren't all cosmetic dentists basically the same? What is the benefit of a holistic or natural cosmetic dentist?
No, not all cosmetic dentists are alike. Improving the appearance of your smile should go more than "enamel deep" and in fact a superficial approach to cosmetic dentistry can create significant damage and lead to long-term problems.
Dr O'Malley specializes in health-based reconstructive/cosmetic dentistry. Creating an optimum and beautiful smile that is also healthy requires a non-invasive and holistic approach. He has spent years researching and developing how to best improve a person’s smile while maximizing the health and longevity of the mouth and teeth. His care and concern for their comfort is key, as he effectively improves their oral health and overall well-being while creating a beautiful smile.
How can I be assured my new smile will look natural?
He uses the newest high-tech tools with highest quality materials that are biocompatible with the patient's system and gives the patient exactly what they want.
What is bio-compatible dentistry?
Holistic/Biological dentistry is a philosophy that recognizes that the teeth and associated structures are a part of the whole body. Because of this important relationship we offer a wide range of healthy treatment options. This Whole Body philosophy stresses the use of safe biocompatible dental materials whenever possible. He also works closely with highly qualified health professionals to assist him in his efforts to return the patient to optimal oral and overall health. His Health-Based approach to holistic dentistry means that he treats the teeth, jaw, and related oral structures, with specific regard to how that treatment will affect the entire body.
Can patients find materials that are not toxic at all?
Dr. O'Malley uses a serum blood specimen to determine what one's 'least reactive' alternative dental material might be. He uses the expression 'least reactive' because any foreign substance introduced into the body will, to some degree, aggravate the immune system. The purpose of the immune system is to ward off substances which are not naturally found in the body.
Can I avoid the pain I usually suffer through when getting numbed?
The pain often experienced when receiving local anesthetic is caused by how quickly the numbing solution is inserted. The Wand uses a micro compressor so the speed is regulated; patients feel a bit of pressure, but no pain. Plus Dr. O'Malley can numb only the tooth or area that is getting worked on when he uses the Wand to administer local anesthetic.
I know Dr. O'Malley is a cosmetic dentist, but does he also do basic dental procedures?
Yes, Dr. O'Malley performs basic dental procedures, as well. He can do regular checkups, periodontal treatment, gum charting, and diagnostic services. He also administers general services such as tooth-colored biocompatible fillings – to restore cavities, metal-free porcelain crowns, Minimally Invasive Bio-Cosmetic Dentistry (MIBCD) – which is fixing teeth without destroying much of the good structure. (For example: where basic dentistry may perform a crown we do an inlay or onlay which preserves as much tooth structure as possible yet fixes your teeth.) Dr. O’Malley also performs alternative bio-compatible root canal procedure and emergency dentistry. He has prevented hundreds of patients from needing root canal procedures with the use of laser treatment.
