Laser Hair Removal
The Gentle Max Pro laser has two of the most effective wavelengths for hair removal. The 755 nm Alexandrite is best for lighter skin individuals (Caucasians; Type 1-3 skin types) and the 1064 nm Nd:YAG is FDA approved for darker skin individuals (Asians, Indians, Africa Americans; Type 4-6 skin type). The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicles and causes damage to the hair shaft and follicle without damaging surrounding skin. Current hair removal lasers treat terminal hairs, the longer thicker darkened hairs. They contain the most melanin, the substance that absorbs laser light. Light or white colored hairs do not respond well to treatment.
The dark terminal hair follicle is either permanently removed or replaced with a fine, light colored vellus hair.
Multiple sessions are usually required because the hair is treated during the growing anagen phase. Since not all hairs are in this growing phase at the same time. Permanent hair reduction is best achieved with several treatments scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. Hairs in the arms, legs, underarm and bikini area tend to be the easiest to remove while facial hair tend to need more treatments.
The Gentle Max Pro laser has a cooling spray that generally eliminates the need for topical numbing and messy cooling gels. The larger spot sizes delivers high speed treatment and significantly reduces treatment duration.
In addition to removing unwanted hairs, laser hair removal is an excellent way to treat ingrown hairs in the bikini, beard and neck areas.
