Chemical Peels/Dermaplaning

Chemical peeling is a dermatological procedure that has long
been used for the treatment of various conditions and for overall skin
rejuvenation. It can be used to treat a variety of facial concerns such as dullness
of the complexion, fine lines, and uneven tone or pigmentary conditions. The
peel will be customized according to each patient’s specific needs. Chemical
peeling is an excellent complement to many other treatments, and they are often
used in combination therapy.
What are chemical peels?
Chemical peeling is a procedure in which an acid-based,
medical grade solution is applied to the skin surface. It removes the damaged
layer of skin, producing a healthier and more youthful appearance. It triggers
the body’s natural healing response, stimulating the formation of new collagen,
making the skin appear more elastic and tighter.
Treatment areas
Peels are used most often on the face, but this treatment is
appropriate for many areas of the body, including the arms, legs, back,
shoulders, and chest. Peels improve the overall quality and appearance of skin,
reducing fine lines and wrinkles. People with extensive sun damage on the legs
and other areas may benefit from chemical peels.

The procedure
A chemical peel is performed in an office setting, as an
outpatient procedure. The depth of the peel is determined by the concentration
and type of peeling agent that is used. We will discuss your options, and the
benefits and tradeoffs of each, during your consultation. The details of
treatment will be determined according to your specific skin type, concerns,
and goals. Generally, superficial peels have little to no downtime, and the
deeper a peel is, the more recovery time it involves.
With any type of peel, sun protection is essential. New skin
cells are more fragile and susceptible to damage from UV radiation. We will
discuss this and provide a complete post-treatment regimen after your peel. Contact
