Sayyida Abdus-Salaam, MD is the founder/CEO of Memphis Center for Aesthetic Medicine. She is committed to bringing her patients an unparalleled level of care with a full range of cosmetic services, and a few medical services. She has chosen her team carefully, to reflect her uncompromising commitment to quality and customer service.
Dr. Salaam is one of a select few practitioners who have extensive knowledge and experience in treating the unique concerns of skin of color, particularly those of African, Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Hispanic, and Asian descent. Her training is unparalleled.
Education and training
She attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated Cum Laude, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to earn her Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University, School of Public Health & Health Services in Washington, DC, and then her Doctor of Medicine degree from Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine, in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Salaam completed her internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. After completing four years of NIH clinical research, she completed a family medicine residency at University Of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. She has been privileged to spend years of training under renowned dermatologists specializing in skin of color in Washington, DC. She is excited to bring this level of expertise to memphis, TN.
Get to know Dr. Salaam
When she is not busy caring for her valued patients, Dr. Salaam enjoys spending time with her family, immersing herself in fashion literature, art, traveling, and theater. She and her husband, Sharif Abdus-Salaam, MD, who is now an orthopedic surgeon, met while they were both studying medicine in Washington, DC. They are now proud parents to two lovely daughters.
