Laser Peels

This popular form of skin rejuvenation provides the most improvement, with a high degree of safety and customization. It allows for a shorter healing time, with maximum wrinkle removal, and collagen building. Ask Dr. Schell or one of our highly trained staff today if this is right for you. Laser peels are accomplished with a fractional laser, to remove micro layers of skin and penetrate to carefully controlled microscopic depths in the skin. The depth and density of the treatment can be precisely controlled, to achieve your desired results. This is generally preferred over chemical peels, as it is more precise and controllable, offers greater results, including collagen building, skin smoothing. wrinkle reduction and removal of sun damage and discoloration. The healing time is also less than many of the TCA chemical peels.

TCA Chemical Peels

TCA peels are safe, extremely effective and natural. They are so safe that they can even be used during pregnancy, when many advanced treatments are not allowed. TCA peels are excellent for the rejuvenation of the facial and body skin through the use of therapeutic, natural chemical agents to reduce or remove fine wrinkles, tighten the skin, reduce or remove "age spots" or other pigmentary conditions, reduce the appearance of scars, and improve skin texture and tone. These treatments not only reverse the signs of aging, but can also protect against skin cancers by removing sun damaged skin cells. The epidermis and dermis become thicker, more elastic and resilient with increased capacity to retain hydration resulting in a more beautiful, youthful skin.

The strength of the peel can be varied and will be carefully selected for your individual skin type. These peels do require some down time, usually creating a bronzed or sunburned appearance for few days, followed by peeling of the skin which can last 5-7 days (total recovery time) depending on the strength selected. Most people feel this is a small price to pay for the fabulous results. While most people only need one treatment to achieve their desired results, severely sun damaged or wrinkled skin may require additional treatments. This is a treatment Dr. Schell has done to herself for many years as maintenance, especially prior to the advent of resurfacing lasers.

Vitalize Peel™

The Vitalize™ peel is a light to medium peel requiring little to no downtime. Its special formulation includes a unique blend of agents that will gently remove dead and damaged skin cells. These include alpha-and beta-hydroxy acids, retinoic acid, and resorcinol.

Your skin will look more radiant after one treatment. While the advantage of the Vitalize™ peel is less down time, it is less effective than a TCA peel, and is therefore recommended as a series of treatments. Depending on whether your goals are simply a smoother, brighter complexion, acne management or if you are trying to reverse signs of aging and sun damage, three to six treatments may be needed. This peel is a great alternative to antibiotics for the treatment of acne.

The Vitalize™ peel can be suitable for all skin types. Vitalize™ peels, Illuminize™ peels and glycolic peels are all great and easy treatments for the rejuvenation of the neck, chest, arms and hands. Most people will experience light peeling of their skin for one to two days, which they don't mind at all.

Illuminize Peel™

The Illuminize Peel™ offers an innovative approach to very superficial chemical peeling utilizing malic acid and mandelic acid, which are in the new generation of the alpha hydroxy acid family. These acids are used in combination with phytic acid and other standard peeling agents (resorcinol and salicylic acid) to maximize the rejuvenation effects on skin with minimal irritation. The Illuminize™ peel is a wonderful choice for a first-time peel or if you are looking for a gentle, supervicial peel that will gently bring out your inner glow.

This peel stands out amongst other peels because it requires minimal to no downtime and causes very little discomfort. This non-invasive skin rejuvenating treatment produces minimal tono visible peeling. It is also perfect for the safe and gentle removal of sun damage. The Illuminize™ peel is a fabulous treatment for the rejuvenation of the arms, hands, neck and chest. Patients may schedule this gentle peel as often as every two weeks until their skin looks and feels optimally beautiful and healthy. With each treatment, the skin becomes brighter, healthier, more radiant, and more youthful. Results are cumulative and maximum benefits are seen with a series of three or more peels.

Jessner's, Salicylic or Lactic Acid Peels

Gentle exfoliation of the upper skin cell layer will unclog congested pores and help minimize their appearance. These peels treat acne breakouts and give skin a healthy glow.
