Q: If my upper eyelids are heavy after Botox injections in the forehead, what can be done? I had the Botox injected in NYC.A: If the Botox relaxed the forehead, then the forehead muscle that helps hold up the eyebrows and upper eyelids has weakened and so the eyelids can drop. If the glabellar region of the forehead, the region that is in between the eyebrows, was not treated, then you can have that treated and it will help raise the forehead a little as this area is known to depress the muscles of the forehead. So when the glabella is treated and the outer eyebrow areas, it can act as a subtle forehead lift.
Q: Why does my friend who gets Botox in NYC need to get retreated in 10 weeks usually and I can go for four or more months in between treatments?
A: There are several variables such as the doctor's technique (if you have different doctors), the number of units injected, and possibly the dilution of the Botox. Also, each of you has different anatomy and the muscles may be stronger in her glabella than yours.
Q: I had Botox in NYC and don't like the result. The doctor injected around my eyes and lower eyelids and I now have puffiness that I didn't have before below the eyelids. Can I get the Botox dissolved?
A: No. The Botox must wear off by itself. There is no medicinal way in which to dissolve it. Usually by 12 to 16 weeks it has worn off.
Q: Is there such a difference between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin for wrinkles?
A: No, they can be considered identical clinically although the units are different between Dysport and Botox. Several patients of mine consented to be followed daily and then weekly and had one side of their face injected with Botox and the other with Dysport. There was no statistically significant difference between the two.
Q: Can Botox in NYC help my uneven forehead?
A: The doctor can often improve asymmetry by using different numbers of units on different sides of the forehead if there is a pretreatment asymmetry.
Q: I have an appointment with a trainer at the gym in the evening and I want to have Botox this afternoon, is that OK?
A: Unless you have a history of very easy bruising and develop a bad bruise or swelling during or immediately after Botox, you may exercise, regardless of position, four hours after Botox. Discuss this with your physician.
