Q: I had Botox injected in between my eyebrows yesterday and I still don't see a result today. I am going to a wedding this weekend and I want to look good.A: There can be three to four days before you see the onset of effectiveness of Botox and its result can get better in the first two weeks.
Q: I have a deep horizontal line right over my outer eyebrow but my doctor said Botox would not be good in this location, why?
A: Botox too close to the eyebrow can diffuse lower and affect the levator muscle thereby weakening the support of the upper eyelid. If the upper eyelid droops, it will be very recognizable and a bad aesthetic outcome.
Q: I have deep forehead lines and I am nursing. Can I have Botox?
A: Once you finish nursing, then Botox or Dysport are considered safe. There are no studies indicating that these treatments are safe in nursing mothers but there are no studies showing that there is damage to the baby. One case was reported in which mother got botulism from food and her third trimester baby was safe.
Q: My dermatologist injected Botox yesterday and I don't see improvement yet. Do I need more Botox?
A: Not necessarily. Botox can take more than a week to show its full effect. Furthermore, before the lines improve, the muscles relax. If you can't contract the muscles in the area Botox was injected then the Botox is successful and just wait for the lines to improve. Deep lines may need fillers to make them look better before time allows the lines to become flatter after Botox. It has been years of contraction of the muscles that made the skin pleat and cause these creases so it may not improve over night.
