Botox™ - Related FAQ's
Q: What is a Botox or Dysport non-surgical brow lift?A: Rather than doing surgery, a forehead can be lifted slightly, although not as much as in surgery, by preventing the lowering muscles of the forehead from pulling down on the forehead by injecting the areas with Botox or Dysport. The frontalis muscle of the forehead then can act in an unopposed fasion by pulling up the brow. The insertion sites for this treatment are in the glabella (between the eyebrows) and the outer eyebrow.
Q: I am thinking of having Botox, but in case I don’t like the result, what can be done to make it go away faster?
A: Botox works by inhibiting the signal from the nerve to the muscle. It takes close to four months for the Botox chemical to fade away. No treatment is available for the purpose of clearing the Botox faster. We have not seen that Fraxel or Thermage treatments affect the Botox longevity.
Q: How long can I expect my Botox treatment to work?
A: Cosmetic applications of Botox injections usually last for up to four months. Some individuals get about three months or less effectiveness but this depends on many factors such as: the individual, the location of the treatment, and the number of units of Botox injected.
Q: I have deep hollowness of my lower eyelids. Can Botox help this?
A: No. If you have a deep crease called the tear trough, this can be injected with Restylane or Juvederm fillers. Discuss the risks with your doctor and know of the convalescence such as bruising and swelling, that may take up to two weeks to resolve.
Q: Can I get Botox and filler in the glabella?
A: Yes you can, and even the same day, but then the Botox is done after the filler so it’s not pushed into other areas. This minimizes the possible sideeffect of a droop.
