Q: I have to run a few miles in training this weekend and I want to have Botox the Wednesday before, is that allowed?

A: Yes, as long as you're not exerting yourself the day of the Botox, you can exercise the next day.

Q: If my glabellar lines don't improve after Botox what should I do?

A: The creases between the eyebrows may be there from years of muscle contraction, frowning and it may take time for the relaxed muscle and skin to have the lines fade. Continue to be patient and have Botox to keep the skin smooth.

Q: What are bunny lines? I hear Botox treats them.

A: Bunny lines are the creases on the upper sides of the nose, to the side of the bridge of the nose heading towards the lower eyelids and cheeks. They usually are diagonal. Sometimes there more prominent after the glabellar muscles are treated with Botox. Focal small doses of Botox can help, but over treatment or extending the injections toward the cheek could risk relaxation of the smile muscles.

Q: I have a movement in my eyelid for the last few weeks and it won't stop. It's annoying. My NYC ophthalmologist said Botox may help, is this true?

A: Yes, it's true that Botox can relax the muscle and make the twitch stop temporarily. The twitch may require further treatment after the first injection wears off in several weeks. Often the cause of the spasm is not discovered. The injections could relax important muscle function of the eyelid so it's important that an experienced eyelid injector does your treatment. Many ophthalmologists are excellent at this.

Q: I've never had Botox and I want my crows' feet to look better for my wedding in one week. Is it advisable to do it now?

A: I suggest not. You might develop a bad bruise, which is doubtful, but it could be difficult to hide with make up even a week later. You might get an unequal response and you would be very unhappy with this on your special day. Botox may take up to two weeks for full effect so there wouldn't be time to adjust something if it doesn't look OK. Dysport also would not allow enough time to adjust. It is highly probably that you would get a good result, but don't take the risk right before your wedding, especially because you, nor your physician, know how you will react.
