CoolSculpting/Zeltiqâ„¢™ - Related FAQ's
Q: I refuse to wear short sleeves because I can't stand to look at my upper arms. Can anything be done for them?A: During a consultation we examine your skin with the arms in different positions and examine the quality and elasticity of the skin as well. An arm lift is a surgical procedure that can lift the skin and remove fat, but the scar (two different placements) can look awful. Liposuction has provided many people with good results. The skin can retract, although it may not as well here as an abdomen unless someone has bad skin there and full of stretch marks. CoolSculpting by Zeltiq can help reduce the fat and the skin can then retract. Multiple procedures may be needed. The applicator has to fit correctly and this may not be possible as an arm applicator has yet to be marketed by Zeltiq. There is a small chance of temporary and even permanent nerve sensitivity or numbness.
Q: I have a big belly. Can CoolSculpting help if I don't want liposuction?
A: You would need an examination to determine if much of the fat is above the muscle wall or if it is behind the abdominal wall. If it is above the muscle, then liposuction or CoolSculpting can help but liposuction can remove more fat than CoolSculpting, but of course, the liposuction is invasive and CoolSculpting is not.
Q: I had CoolSculpting recently and want to know if I really must go on a diet now.
A: You don't need to diet, but you shouldn't start to consume more calories than you have up to now, as that would increase fat in the remaining fat cells.
Q: Can CoolSculpting help treat my fat neck?
A: There isn't an applicator that is designed yet that would fit this area, but I am anxiously awaiting such manufacturing to treat the submental neck fat pad underneath the chin.
Q: I have bad knees and can't exercise well. I am 50 pounds over my ideal body weight. Can I have CoolSculpting?
A: It sounds like you have a generalized obesity for which CoolSculpting doesn't work well. It is for focal fat deposits around which the applicator can fit well. Hopefully you can find a good exercise alternative that won't stress your knees.
