Q: I have a bulge of fat in front of my athletic shirts near the underarm. Can Zeltiq help this?A: CoolSculpting freezes fat but the bulge near the strap or shirt at the underarm is often breast tissue and CoolSculpting is not indicated for this treatment.
Q: Can CoolSculpting be used for the fat jowls of my cheeks?
A: No. CoolSculpting is not indicated for facial fat reduction. There might be applicators in the future that would fit these locations, but studies would have to investigate the safety of the facial nerves and the treatment with CoolSculpting.
Q: I am trying to fit into my wedding dress comfortably. Can I have CoolSculpting today if my wedding is next month?
A: CoolSculpting works slowly although some patients do see results at one month. There may slight swelling in the first few weeks. There might even be some skin sensitivity in the first few weeks. You may not want to risk this so soon before the wedding. Two months time would be more reasonable. Some people retreat a few times every six weeks or so. It is only expected that there will be 20% reduction four months after one treatment.
Q: Can I have CoolSculpting by Zeltiq if I had a baby two years ago?
A: Absolutely, unless there is a hernia. Many women who have had children undergo CoolSculpting. It is a safe and good non-invasive technique to reduce fat of localized areas.
Q: Can I have CoolSculpting by Zeltiq if I have Lupus?
A: In general, there is no absolute reason for avoiding Coolsculpting in Lupus patients. Having an autoimmune disease doesn't mean you would have a complication from CoolSculpting but occasionally there are associated diseases in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. You should check with your rheumatologist, or other specialist that is taking care of you if they have any concerns of the cold temperature that your fat is subjected to during CoolSculpting potentially causing problems.
