Q: I have a friend that had Utlherapy and had a great result but she was much worse off than me with more jowls. I am only 39 and just starting to see some changes. I also have a lower pain threshold than my friend and wonder if I could tolerate Ulthera. I heard Pelleve doesn’t hurt. Is this true?

A: Pelleve, actually can feel soothing to some patients. It creates dermal heating by using radio-frequency. The device is being applied in circular motion by our aesthetician and it can feel like a warm facial massage. If there is the slightest moment in which the energy starts to feel too hot, you tell the provider and it is moved quickly to the next area. It is a good treatment for those who are just noticing the aging effects to occur and can’t afford to have down time. Both Pelleve and Ultherapy do not require time off work, or social events. You may resume your normal life immediately after Pelleve.

Q: I want to look refreshed. My skin is starting to sag and I want to go to a big family social in three weeks. What can I do now that will not look terrible in three weeks?

A: Three weeks allows time for bruising to go away if fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm are done. Botox, Dysport and Xeomin can be done and their effects are seen in a few days and bruising is rare but if occurs, it would be gone in time for your function. Pelleve is an excellent rejuvenation procedure that has NO downtime and uses radio-frequency to tighten the underlying dermis. Usually it is done as a series of a few treatments a few weeks apart, but many, not all, patients do see improvement even after one treatment.
