Facial Fillers
One of the fastest growing areas of cosmetic dermatology is the use of injectable facial fillers. Many advances have been made in the last several years that have led to safe, predictable, and long-lasting dermal fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane. These are used to help turn back the signs of aging that occur as patients reach their 30s, 40s, and 50s. The face begins to lose collagen, which results in the loss of volume in the face. Fine lines, wrinkles, and folds become more prominent, and dynamic wrinkles become deeper. Injectables are used to reduce these problems and smooth the skin, thus returning the face to a more youthful state. While many patients may benefit from Botox injections for dynamic wrinkles such as those between the eyebrows and on the upper forehead, others may find effective results with dermal fillers.
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is an incredibly smooth hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally occurs in the skin. It is used to add volume and hydration to the areas in which it is injected. It is administered underneath the skin to restore volume and smooth lines and wrinkles on the face, including the nasolabial folds, smile lines, and other creases and folds that occur over time.
The process of receiving Juvéderm injections takes only about 15 minutes. Results are immediate, and there is no recovery or downtime necessary. Patients can step into Dr. Sidhu’s office and get right back to their life. Many patients do not need anesthetics, especially when receiving Juvéderm injections formulated with lidocaine for improved comfort.
Results may vary with Juvéderm, but many patients notice an immediate improvement in the areas treated. Most patients benefit from just one treatment to achieve the ultimate results in wrinkle smoothing, and the results last for approximately one year after injection. Patients may also visit Dr. Sidhu for regular touch-up injections to maintain the results and slow the inevitable signs of aging.
