At Complete Skin LA, we are passionate about providing our adult and pediatric patients with the best dermatologic care in a friendly, welcoming, and professional environment. We offer a range of services designed to diagnose and treat numerous skin problems such as:
Skin allergies
Allergic responses in the skin may present as a rash. Allergies that affect the skin are described as dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is a condition that may develop after the skin has been exposed to an irritant such as detergent. Dermatitis may also be the result of a food irritant or an autoimmune response in which the body mistakenly perceives normal substances as irritants. At CSLA we have the ability to perform detailed skin allergy testing that is far more comprehensive than most offices. We tailor each allergy test based on a patient's hobbies, job, products they utilize or any other possible source of skin allergies.
Acne
Contrary to popular belief, acne is not a problem experienced only by teens. Men and women of all ages may continue to struggle with this condition. There is an urgency in treating acne with the most appropriate solution due to the immediate risk of self-consciousness as well as the long-term risk of acne scarring. Dr. Stotland treats the individual, formulating a plan that may involve topical or systemic medication or adjunct treatments such chemical peels or Silkpeel.
Rosacea
Due to the appearance of rosacea, this condition could be mistaken for acne. Rosacea may appear on a person at any time, though people with fair skin between the ages of 30 and 50 are the most commonly affected. A dermatologist can quickly recognize the diffuse redness, cysts, and papules of Rosacea and can help patients identify triggers so that future flare-ups can be minimized.
Moles
Just about everyone has a dozen or more moles scattered across their body. Most moles are benign while many are also indicative of sun damage. Moles that result from UV exposure are not necessarily a sign of skin cancer, though all moles should be consistently monitored for changes. In consultation with an experienced dermatologist, it is possible to learn how to perform monthly skin examinations for the earliest detection of precancerous growths.
Melanoma
Melanoma is the type of skin cancer that tends to cause the greatest amount of concern. Due to the link between skin cancer and moles, many people feel overwhelmed and confused about the growths they do have. Dr. Stotland performs the careful examination of all moles and discusses with patients ways to recognize precancerous growths. It is important to note that melanoma is not always associated with UV exposure and that there is a very good prognosis for this condition when detection and treatment occur early.
Hair loss
Both men and women can find themselves facing the loss of hair on the head or other area of the body. Hair loss may occur for several reasons and can be extremely distressing for either gender. Each day, we shed as many as a few hundred hairs. Typically, these account for only 1 percent of the total hairs on our head. The remaining hairs are in the active growth phase. Alopecia, or hair loss, occurs when more hairs are lost than what is normal and areas of thinning develop. We are fortunate to live in a time when science provides viable solutions for hair loss in both men and women.
Skin Cancer
Squamous cell and basal cell skin cancers make up the most common skin cancer diagnoses. Each is associated with UV exposure and each can be successfully treated when detected early. Basal cell skin cancer lesions may become aggressive towards surrounding tissue, causing cosmetic disruption. Squamous cell carcinomas may spread to other areas and have the potential to cause death if treatment is not obtained. Dr. Stotland discusses cancer prevention and treatment during consultations with patients in order to assist them in lifelong health and wellness.
Nail fungus
Both fingernails and toenails are susceptible to the development of fungal infection. Nail fungus can usually be identified by the yellowing or thickening of the nail itself. With treatment, fungus can be eliminated and the appearance and health restored.
