Emergency Service
We are dedicated to putting the "care" back in dental care. You and your family are always our first priority.
If you are having an emergency, we take walk-in patients and we will see you as soon as possible, and get you out of pain as soon as possible. Once you are comfortable, we will discuss short-term, and long-term solutions, to prevent a similar problem in the future. Depending on the circumstances, treatment may be provided the same day. With a denturist and orthodontist on staff, we are able to handle a wide variety of emergency dental situations.
Dental First Aid
The first thing to do in case of a dental emergency is call Burloak Centre Dentistry. Our office is conveniently located in Oakville, just a short drive from communities such as Burlington, Milton, Hamilton, and Waterdown.
How Should You Care for the Tooth Until You Make It to Our Office?
- Broken or cracked tooth – Rinse your mouth gently, and save any broken off pieces of tooth.
- Knocked out tooth – Rinse your mouth and the tooth very gently. Attempt to put it back in the socket without using force. If it will not go, place it in a clean container of milk. See a dentist immediately, as there is a narrow window of opportunity for reattachment.
- Lost dental restoration – Denture adhesive or sugar-free gum may secure the restoration temporarily. If not, be sure to save it and bring it to the office with you.
- Pain – Use over-the-counter pain relievers as directed, but do not take aspirin-containing products if you are bleeding. Clove oil may be applied directly to the tooth or gums.
- Swelling – Apply a cold compress externally. Ice should always be wrapped in a towel to avoid skin injury.
