Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers continue to grow in popularity as more people seek ways to reduce the signs of aging. They are frequently called liquid facelifts because they provide many of the effects of a surgical facelift at less cost and without the pain and recovery period. Additionally, because the purpose of fillers is to return the skin to its youthful fullness, they provide more natural looking results than a surgical facelift.
Over time, gravity, sun, age, hormonal changes, lifestyle choices, and environmental toxins take their toll on the skin. Lines develop on the forehead, wrinkles form around the mouth, crow’s feet develop around the eyes, the lips thin and wilt and the cheeks become sunken. Fortunately, the facial treatments sector of Portmore Dental offers treatments to reduce the signs of aging.
As our skin ages, it gradually loses its hyaluronic acid, elastin, and collagen, which is much of the support structure for the skin. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain joint cushioning and lubrication as well as skin hydration and volume. It can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water, and binds with the elastin and collagen, providing essential nutrients to these fibres. Restylane and Perlane are dermal fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid.
When Restylane or Perlane gel is injected, it adds volume to the skin and brings moisture to the surface, giving the area a full, fresh, and supple look. These fillers are also used to elevate sunken scars, such as those caused by acne. The results of the injections can last from four months to a full year. Restylane is extremely safe, with over 50 clinical studies; it was the first hyaluronic acid based dermal filler to be approved by the United States FDA for cosmetic treatment.
We have achieved superb results by using Restylane in conjunction with Botox. The Botox relaxes the muscles that cause the wrinkles and folds, and Restylane plumps and smoothes the treated area. This will result in a relaxed, youthful, and rejuvenated look, and typically the outcome will last longer than either treatment used independently. They can be used to effectively reduce lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, and hands.
