It can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water, and binds with the elastin and collagen, providing essential nutrients to these fibres. Restylane and Perlane are dermal fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid.

When Restylane or Perlane gel is injected, it adds volume to the skin and brings moisture to the surface, giving the area a full, fresh, and supple look. These fillers are also used to elevate sunken scars, such as those caused by acne. The results of the injections can last from four months to a full year.
